Mackay Memorial Hospital, under the jurisdiction of
the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, was established in memory of Dr.
George Leslie Mackay who followed in the footsteps of his Master by
coming to Taiwan with the message of salvation for all men. Mackay
Memorial Hospital is also one of the major medical centers in
Taiwan, focusing on teaching, research and medical care.
In order to provide a better medical service
quality for the patients, Mackay Memorial Hospital is aggressively
promoting the concept of "mobile medication," and trying to
integrate nursing carts and medical information system. Taking the
advantages of wireless LAN, doctors can access medical records
whiles checking patients, and update those records to medical
information system right away.
Logicalis Taiwan was awarded as a wireless network
integrator of Mackay Memorial Hospital. Logicalis deployed the
access points, integrated existing LAN and provided a high quality,
full-coverage IEEE 802.11b/g wireless network. These enable the
nursing cart solution, and provide a better medical service
quality.
After building up the wireless network, medical
information system is integrated with mobile medical car and IP
telephony system, which also increases the service ability of
nursing cart. Indeed, wireless network also can be provided to
patients and their families for accessing Internet. In the future,
wireless terminals can also provide the location service for those
medical equipments and even patients.
